PEACE CHILD - SUMMER 2010
Dear Young Singers, Actors, Artists and Dancers:
Arlington Community Church invites you to spend one week in August at our FIFTH Annual Peace
Child Summer Arts Camp, August 2-6, 2010. We will produce an original musical on the themes of
peace, kindness, community, gratitude, and forgiveness. Young people will help co-create the dancing,
music, singing, artwork, and puppetry for the production. The past summers’ musical theater
productions have set a standard that we look forward to matching and surpassing each year.
Participants will meet from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM each day, Monday through Friday, for one week. Each young person will join in singing and music training with Shanti Moorjani, dancing and acting
training with Michael Mansfield, and art and puppet training with Lisa Klein, filling each morning with the
creative process of making a musical theater production. The celebration of our work will be open to the
public on Friday night August 6 at 7:00 PM. If the size of the group permits us to have a second show,
we will also perform the show on Saturday night, August 7 at 7:00 PM.
Young people ages 8-14 are welcome to participate in the camp. Participants receive a mid-morning healthy snack and a lunch at 12:45. The cost for the five-day arts camp is $150. Registration begins February 1, 2010. Permission forms and registration forms are available through the church office or can be printed by clicking on the attached Permission Form and Registration Form. Return your forms as soon as possible to confirm your
space. Parents, please fill out the permission form very carefullly, as it gives us vital information about
your young people, to fully assure our attention to details for health, safety, and responsibility toward
those in our care. Attach a check to these forms if you wish to complete and finalize your participation
in the summer camp, made out to Arlington Community Church. For more registration information,
please call the church office at 526-9146 or email acc.staff@sbcglobal.net. For more program
information, you may contact Michael at jeangarcon@aol.com or Shanti at leslieshanti@yahoo.com. If
you have any questions or would like a chance to talk with parents/guardians of previous participants,
contact rie_u@sbcglobal.net, drshario@comcast.net, or slamon@cheerful.com.
Arlington Community Church offers a year-round arts education program called SPIRIT AND THE
ARTS, welcoming all children, youth, and families to participate in the creative process. The program is open to
families of any faith tradition who wish to grow in their interfaith awareness, appreciation, and
creative expression. We invite you to consider making Arlington Community Church your place for a
wider and deeper family arts experience. SPIRIT AND THE ARTS allows young people to continue arts
training in acting, dancing, and singing classes in the Fall here at Arlington Community Church.
Thanks for joining us in our work of peace and kindness.
