Alfred E. Williams, Jr. was born in Massillon, Ohio, on December 24, 1931. His academic credentials include a B.A. from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, a Masters of Divinity Degree and a Masters Degree in Systematic Theology from Union Theological Seminary in New York City, and a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.
From 1956 to 1966 Mr. Williams served as pastor of Long Grove Church, in Long Grove, Illinois. From 1966 to 1979 he served as Associate Conference Minister of the Illinois Conference of the United Church of Christ. From 1979 to 1990 he served as Conference Minister of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ. He retired to Foster City, California in 1991.
After retiring, Mr. Williams prepared to serve as a transitional minister. Over the past fifteen years he has served as a transitional pastor at Almaden Valley United Church of Christ in San Jose, First Congregational Church in Santa Cruz, First Baptist Church in Palo Alto, and Ladera Community Church in Portola Valley.
Mr. Williams began his transitional ministry with Arlington Community Church in Kensington on January 15, 2009.
